![]() ![]() It was a large portion surrounded by fresh fruit. The dessert menu is also quite extensive it was very hard to choose! There was a chocolate mousse that tempted me, another dish with hazelnut.but I settled on the creme brulee, one of my all-time favorites. Given that it was the last night of our vacation, we decided to indulge in dessert. However, it was served with a nice accompaniment of potatoes and vegetables. My salmon portion was generous, but I found it to be a bit overcooked-too common in restaurants, but I expected more here. My husband was very pleased with his dish, which he had feared might be too lemony for his liking but which apparently was not. (Yet, surprisingly, the butter was packaged.) Service was very fast-our entrees arrived before we finished our salads. The baguette loaf was also fantastic, served with an amazing herbed olive oil that had to be homemade as well. ![]() The dressings were homemade on site, and both were delicious-mine a balsamic vinaigrette, his Thousand Island (which originated in the 1000 Islands). But, it was perhaps a mixed blessing, as we were served what might have been the best house salads we have ever had! The ingredients were super-fresh and included finely shredded carrots and shredded carrots (off to the side, so my husband easily avoided his). We thought our waitress reacted a little oddly when my husband asked if he could sub a Caesar salad for the house salad instead of offering him an upcharge (which we would have gladly paid), she simply ran down alternatives, such as soup. The Clipper Inn specializes in seafood, but I was surprised to see several Thai offerings-that was a first for a seafood restaurant! My husband and I both got specials-a seafood pasta special for him and the herb salmon for me. In addition to the extensive menu (available online), there was a full sheet of daily specials. We made reservations for 6 p.m.-not sure if we needed them, but the parking lot was definitely full when we arrived, and we were seated immediately. The Clipper Inn is currently rated #4 in the list of Trip Advisor's top restaurants for Clayton, NY, and so we decided to have dinner there during the last night of our recent stay in Clayton. ![]()
